Courses

  • MAE 476 - Space Flight and Systems
    • Introduction to fundamental concepts of space flight and vehicles, emphasizing performance aspects and basic analytical expressions. Common analysis methods and design criteria for launch vehicles, orbital mechanics, atmospheric re-entry, stabilization, thermal, power, and attitude control.
    • Undergraduate-level
    • Semesters taught: Spring 2023, Fall 2023, Spring 2024, Fall 2024, Fall 2025, Spring 2026 (Current)
  • MAE 593 - Optimization Methods in Engineering (New Course)
    • Introduction to the basics of mathematical optimization with applications to engineering. Students will learn to identify real-world engineering design challenges, formulate them as mathematical optimization problems, and solve them using appropriate solution methods. Topics covered include modeling, unconstrained and constrained optimization, integer and (non)linear programming, and multi-objective optimization.
    • Graduate-level
    • Semesters taught: Spring 2025, Spring 2026 (Current)
